Wed 16 May Tokyo | We spend a full day exploring this fascinating city, with its unique blend of 20th century consumer culture and lingering older traditions. Enjoy a sightseeing tour and a visit to the Edo Tokyo Museum. |
Thu 17 May Tokyo - Kyoto | We transfer by Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji en route, and transfer to the Rhiga Royal Hotel. Kyoto today remains the cultural and spiritual capital and we spend the afternoon discovering this special city on a sightseeing drive and visit the castle. |
Fri 18-Sat 19 May Kyoto | With over 2,000 temples and shrines, trio of palaces and dozens of gardens and museums, Kyoto offers a glimpse into Japan�s past. During our tours we will visit several outstanding temples, including Kiyomizu-dera and Ginkakuji. |
Sun 20 May Nara | A short drive from Kyoto is Nara, Japan's first "permanent" capital from 710 to 785. We visit the Todai-ji temple, housing the world's largest bronze statue, the Daibutsu, in the world's largest wooden structure. We stay overnight in a "Ryokan". |
